Lawn Program Detail Sheet
1. The winter service includes
a nitrogen and potassium fertilizer application along with
liquid or granular application of crabgrass preventer. Crabgrass
begins to germinate in February and we want our products
to be there waiting for in when it does.
2. The early spring application
includes a balanced slow release granular fertilizer. A
broadleaf weed control treatment is also applied to control
spring germinating weeds.
3. The spring application
includes nitrogen and potassium fertilization along with
Iron. This application is usually applied in liquid form.
4. Summer is Chinch Bug prevention
month. The whole property will receive and insecticide treatment
to control and prevent Chinch Bugs. In addition you will
receive a light fertilization with iron to keep the grass
looking its best.
5. The fall application includes
a balanced slow release granular fertilizer with broadleaf
weed killer included. In addition we will be treating for
Chinch Bugs again as needed.
6. The late fall application
is directed at broadleaf weed control. A liquid herbicide
will be applied over the whole property to kill any remaining
or new weeds that our September application did not get.
Also included is a nitrogen and potassium fertilizer application.
7. Special Summer Crabgrass
pre-emergent application is important in that it contains
the second crabgrass preventer treatment of the year. This
application is timed to coincide with the summer rains that
start in June. Crabgrass germination peaks during this time
period. This application goes down in either May or June,
has little to no nutritional value and is done independently
from your regular every other month application schedule.
Keep this in mind.
Note: Crabgrass preventers are only about 70% effective
under the very best of conditions. We will be treating crabgrass
as it emerges with our regular service visits listed above.
However the one and only product that kills crabgrass after
it has emerged from the ground has had its uses limited
to sod farms and agriculture only. Once existing supplies
of this product are gone we will no longer be able to use
it to kill crabgrass. We hope to have enough of this product
to last through the 2005 season. After that perhaps something
new will be available.
