It's been a long hot summer but Fall has finally arrived in Central Florida. Temperatures in the 80's will be the norm with nighttime temperatures in the 60's. This is perfect weather for the development of Brown Patch Fungus. If you had it last year you'll have it again this year; in the same spots too.
It shows up as a circle of yellowing grass which grows bigger as time passes. Text book Brown Patch will look like a frog eye in the lawn with a yellow circle around the outside and recovering green grass in the middle. While Brown Patch is not a serious disease in an otherwise healthy lawn it does look bad and does need to be treated with a fungicide to keep it in check. The problem is we cannot predict exactly when it will show up so we need your help. Should any of you see these “frog eye” type circles appearing in the lawn we will need to know so we can take care of it... just call.
Our residential lawn applications during October and November include a golf course quality slow release liquid fertilizer, a fast release fertilizer, weed control for the entire lawn, iron for enhanced color and insecticide where needed. This is our big Fall Weed and Feed application and will really turn the lawn up a notch after suffering through a long hot summer with spotty rain.
Shrubs are being fed a balanced slow release fertilizer and treated for insects and diseases as needed.
Fire up the grill and enjoy some outdoor time!! FALL IS FINALLY HERE!!
