By the end of the month everyone will have had their first Fall weed and feed treatment. Weeds generally start showing up early in September and can become a problem if not treated. Lawns that hold water or are overwatered are the ones that suffer the most. Remember that too much water is just as bad as too little.
We will be treating again with your next visit too in order to kill the harder to control species broadleaf weed species. This will clear your lawn up till spring when a whole new crop of spring annual broadleaf weeds start to germinate. Rest assured we will be there to stop them in their tracks.
Some lawns have had crabgrass move in pretty heavy over the summer. These areas will need to be resodded in the spring. There is no post emergent control of crabgrass any longer as you have been told now several times (and again here). While we do use crabgrass preventers and they help, they do not provide 100% efficacy. Sooner or later crabgrass is going to show up and will need to be dealt with by you the home owner. Your choices are to resodd areas where it shows up, treat it with baking soda on your own, or purchase and apply Asulox and illegally apply it yourself. For more information call the office.
