This dry weather is getting out of hand. If we do not get rain soon there will be dead spots showing up in lawns all over (maybe yours?)
It is imperative that you check out your irrigation system for proper operation. We are already receiving several calls a day with “brown spots” that are showing up on lawns. It’s all weak spots in the irrigation coverage or just plain not enough water period. Twice a week is not going to cut it if this weather holds. Water twice on the days you are allowed to water if that’s what it takes and remember you now have an exemption to water pesticide applications in as we direct. So long as our lawn posting sign is out in the lawn or have your invoice the water police cannot ticket you.
Chinch bugs love hot dry weather. Those areas that do not get enough water will be the first to get infested. PLEASE CHECK YOUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM AND ADJUST THE TIME PER ZONE TO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP THE LAWN FROM DRYING OUT!!! 60 minutes per zone once in the early morning and again after sundown on the days you are allowed to water is what I want to see.
It will be over when the summer rains come in June. Until then providing for your lawns watering needs will be entirely up to YOU.
Remember, what takes 2 weeks to dry up and die back will take the rest of the season to fill back in and you’ll end up with weeds in the meantime.
SUPER CHINCH BUG - We knew it was coming, we knew we would have to deal with it sooner or later. We just didn’t expect it to happen this fast!! ...More>>
