It looks like we may be entering a period of drought for the next 30 or more days. March was dry as usual. April usually is too but the weather service is now calling for exceptionally dry weather to continue through April.
It is imperative that you check out your irrigation system for proper operation. We are already receiving several calls a day with “brown spots” that are showing up on lawns. It’s too early for Chinch bugs. These laws are dry!! Twice a week may not cut it. Water twice on the days you are allowed to water if that’s what it takes and remember you now have an exemption to water pesticide applications in as we direct. So long as our lawn posting sign is out in the lawn the water police cannot ticket you (at least in the St. Johns water management district).
It will be over when the summer rains come in June and then we’ll be telling you your watering too much. So goes it, feast or famine.
Water for at least one hour per zone on lawn areas and 30 minutes on the shrub zones.
Get that system checked out!!
You can call Vees and Co. at 407-299-5700 or Baker irrigation repair at 407-694-2440 to get your system checked and repaired as needed.

* Don’t forget the program change we made to your lawn schedule for the 2005 season. An additional crabgrass preventer application will be applied in May or June just before the summer rains cause another heavy germination of crabgrass. This application is applied independently from your regular every other month application and will be charged at your regular summer rate.
